Spells: The Purple School (Level 1)

Representing the interface between the mind and reality, the Purple school is known as one of the gateways of chromatic magic, entering from the mundane world. Imagination and sensation are the Purple aspects of the mind, and Purple magicians are illusionists. The workings of this school call into question the very nature of reality. Its illusions presented to the senses are not only in the mind, because they can be perceived by many people at once. They can even take on greater amounts of reality at higher levels, to the point of affecting the body through the mind.

The Purple school, however, takes a very pragmatic and relaxed approach to these questions of ultimate reality. While their view of the world is changeable, it is only appearances that they seek to change. Purple illusionists tend to be quite down-to-earth once you get to know them, with a strong playful and creative streak. On a modern campus, they would be working in the film school. The metal of the school is silver and its celestial body is the Moon - whose apparent changes are only the play of light on its surface.

Disguise

Duration: 3 hours

Gives the caster or another person a different visual appearance, restricted to the face, but possibly changing apparent gender and race. If the illusion attempts a likeness of a specific person, those who view it up close and know the person may save (Int) to detect that something is not right.

Simple Illusion

Level 1 Magic Spell (Minor)
School: Purple
Range: 90'
Duration: While concentrating, up to 30 minutes

Creates an illusion in one of the five senses; if visual, it is a non-moving image; if auditory, only noises and not speech can be simulated. The object of a visual or olfactory illusion can not take up any more volume than a 10 foot square cube. If the illusion is strange or out of place, those who view it are allowed a save (Int) to spot a flaw.

Ventriloquism

Level 1 Magic Spell (Minor)
School: Purple
Range: 90'
Duration: While concentrating, up to 30 minutes

Allows the caster to disguse and throw his or her voice so that it appears to come from anywhere in range. If a specific voice is being imitated, those who hear it and know the owner of the  original voice get to save (Int) or figure out that something is not right.
